Description

Norton Cottage and Hearts Cottage are two houses dating from the 19th century or earlier. They feature a timber frame that is plastered, with a dark weatherboarded apron and a steep thatched roof. The building is one and a half storeys tall and has a symmetrical U-shape, facing south. Each half of the building includes a gabled projecting cross-wing, with a central chimney positioned next to the wing and a door located in the angle. There is a lean-to set back at the outer sides. The front of the cottages has windows in the center and four dormer windows. The windows are two-light flush casements with large external boarded shutters. Each cross-wing has two-lift casements on both floors, featuring 'WP' and 'SB' in an oval frame in the plaster above. The cottages are included for their group value.
