Description
Hummerstons is a house dating from the 18th century, with extensions added to the rear in the 19th century and to the east in the 1970s. It features a timber frame on a stuccoed black plinth and is plastered with two unequal panels outlined between the first-floor windows. The roof is steep and covered with old red tiles, with the rear slope raised to accommodate a shallow rear extension.
The house is two storeys high with a central chimney plan, facing south, and has a lobby entry. The staircase is located behind the central stack, which heats only the western part of the house. There is a rear lateral stack on the eastern half. Inside, the house has axial floor beams. The front facade includes two windows on each floor, featuring three-light flush casements with small panes that have been renewed. The door is off-centre to the west and is a boarded door set in a moulded frame, topped with a small flat hood. There is also a one and a half storey tiled and plastered extension set back at the east, which is not of special interest.
