COTTERED BALDOCK ROAD (north side) Farriers Cottage and Thatch Cottage

(Formerly listed as Cheyenne, and Thatch Cottage)

House, later two houses. C17 or earlier, renovated and lower E extension and rear outshut early C19. Timber frame roughcast with a steep thatched roof and old red brick central chimney. Early C19 white brick external gable chimney at W. A two-storeys, three-cell, central-chimney, lobby-entry plan house facing S, with central chimney a third from E end.

W half (Farriers Cottage) has a symmetrical two windows front with central battened door under a small hood on shaped brackets. Two Yorkshire two-light sliding flush casements to first floor, two-light casements to ground floor.

E half (Thatch Cottage) has three small flush casement windows with leaded lights on each floor (renewed), a boarded door with bullionlight cut in, opposite chimney and a similar door into E extension.
