Description

Farriers Cottage and Thatch Cottage is a house, originally built in the 17th century or earlier, which was later divided into two houses. It underwent renovations and received a lower east extension and rear outshut in the early 19th century. The building features a timber frame that is roughcast, topped with a steep thatched roof and an old red brick central chimney. There is also an early 19th-century white brick external gable chimney on the west side.

The structure is two storeys high and has a three-cell, central-chimney, lobby-entry plan, facing south, with the central chimney located a third of the way from the east end. The western half, known as Farriers Cottage, has a symmetrical front with two windows and a central battened door that is sheltered by a small hood supported by shaped brackets. It features two Yorkshire two-light sliding flush casements on the first floor and two-light casements on the ground floor.

The eastern half, referred to as Thatch Cottage, has three small flush casement windows with leaded lights on each floor, which have been renewed. It also includes a boarded door with a bullseye light cut into it, located opposite the chimney, and a similar door leading into the eastern extension.
