Description

Cargreen Cottage is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with an early 19th-century extension at the east end. It features a timber frame set on a plastered brick sill, with roughcast and white weatherboarding on the west gable and the eastern part. The cottage has a steep thatched roof, which includes a dormer window cut into the eaves, and a lower pitched slate roof on the eastern extension.

The building is 1½ storeys tall and consists of two cells, facing south, with an internal chimney. The early 19th-century extension is two storeys high and has an internal chimney on the eastern gable, along with a small two-storey gabled rear wing. The front of the house has three windows, which are two-light flush casement windows with small panes, alternating with hooded doorways that are now similarly glazed.

There is a battened door in the middle of the eastern end of the lower part, with the dormer window located slightly to the left of the door. The older section of the cottage features an axial beam and an open fireplace in the main room, along with a narrow west parlour that has a later-added fireplace.
