Description
Little Thatch is a house that dates from the 17th century or possibly earlier. It features a brick section in the southern jamb of the fireplace that is inscribed with "ID1677," which may indicate the date of the chimney. The house has a timber frame set on a stuccoed plinth, with roughcast walls and a steep half-hipped thatched roof that includes two eyebrow dormers at the eaves. It is one and a half storeys tall and has a three-cell internal chimney plan. The entrance is located on the south side, accessed by steps a third of the way from the west end. There are two three-light flush casement windows with lattice leaded glazing and a plank door. A 20th-century extension is linked at the northeast but is not of special interest. Inside, the house has axial beams and two service rooms at the west end. Originally, only the hall was heated, but a late flue has been added for the parlour fireplace.
