Description
Hall Farm Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century or earlier. It features a timber frame resting on a low brick sill, with roughcast walls and steep old red tile roofs. The cottage is 1½ storeys tall and consists of two main rooms, with the entrance located at the south gable end facing the lane. There is a slightly lower one-bay extension to the north, which has a lean-to at its northern end, and a narrow single-storey extension on the east side of the south room. Inside, there is a large internal chimney and axial beams, with a staircase located against the rear wall. The south front includes a flush three-light cast iron lattice casement window on the first floor, one window to the left of a gabled tiled porch with a side entrance, and another window on the east extension. The central chimney has three square shafts, each of different dates. There are two-light casement windows on the west side and one on the east gable of the eastern wing. The building also shows evidence of a side-purlin roof structure.
