Description
School Cottage is a house that dates from the late 17th century, originally built with a timber frame and later cased in red brick during the 19th century. The brickwork is laid in Flemish bond and is applied in stages to the timber frame. At the western end, there is a lower extension that is dark weatherboarded. The cottage has one and a half storeys, features an end chimney, and has a central entrance facing south, with a single-storey kitchen to the west. There is an internal gable chimney on the west side. The cottage has two gabled dormers at the eaves. The entrance consists of a battened door set in a heavy frame, flanked by two flush three-light mullioned windows that have cast iron lattice casements. The ground floor openings are topped with segmental arches.
