Description

Old Pump Cottage is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with alterations made in the 18th century, reportedly dated 1787. It features a timber frame with roughcast and a red brick ground floor in Flemish bond. The building has a steep old red tile roof that extends down at the rear over an outshut. The house is two storeys high with a three-cell internal chimney plan, facing east and set back from the road. There is a large internal chimney located a third of the way from the south end, along with a later small external chimney on the north gable. The east front has three three-light divided casement windows on each floor and two four-panel doors. Inside, the cottage has exposed ceiling beams.
