Description
Old Bowling Forge is a house dating from the late 17th century, with a matching 20th-century rear wing. It has a timber frame resting on a tarred brick sill and is plastered, topped with a steep half-hipped thatch roof. The house is small, two stories high, and has a two-cell end chimney plan, facing east. The rear wing, which is also two stories, features a central chimney and is hipped to the west. The front of the house has two windows on each floor, which are two-light flush casement windows with horizontal glazing bars. There is an internal gable chimney at the south end with a red brick top, and a small casement window on each floor at the south end. The entrance is now located in the rear wing at the re-entrant angle, featuring a two-panel door with a flat hood. This building is a picturesque feature on the village green.
