Description
Tavern Cottage is a house that dates from the 18th century or earlier. It has a timber frame that is plastered, with black weatherboarding on the lower floor. The roof is made of slate and features a lobed bargeboard on the south gable. This picturesque two-storey house faces east and has a lobby-entry with a central chimney plan. At the rear and north end, there are single-storey lean-to outshuts that are also plastered and weatherboarded. There is a small parallel two-storey range at the rear northwest. The front features a boarded door with Gothic hinges set in a flat-topped porch, centrally located between two windows. The windows are two-light flush casements, each with four panes. The south gable has a flush box sash window above and a two-light casement window below. The chimney is made of red brick, which has been widened and topped with stock brick.
