Description
Mardocks Mill is a building that originally served as mill cottages and dates from the 17th century or early 18th century. It has been altered in the 19th century and extended on the east side in the 20th century. The structure features a timber frame that is plastered and sits on a brick and stucco plinth, with the newer parts made of plastered brick. The roof is covered with old red tiles and is hipped at the south end, while the north end has two tile-hung gables.
The building is a long, L-shaped, two-storey structure with four windows, facing west. At the rear, there is a parallel range made of painted brick, which includes two and three-light casement windows. The west front, from north to south, features a small canted bay window with an oriel above it, two casement windows, and two canted bay windows with sashes, which are two storeys high and flank a gabled porch supported by square timber posts. Additionally, there is a millstone set into the paving that is dated 1938. The forecourt to the north is located on the site of the former watermill and includes a twin arched bridge facing the River Ash.
