Description
Mardocks Farm Cottages is a farmhouse that has been converted into two houses. It dates from the 18th century and was enlarged and refaced in the early 19th century. The walls are plastered, with the older southern range exposed only at the gables, while the rest is constructed of yellow brick and topped with old red tiled roofs. The southern range is built along a slope and has two stories and attics, featuring three windows. There are pilasters between the windows and twin pilasters at the ends. It has internal gable chimneys and a central entrance with segmental gauged arches above the lower windows. The entrance includes a six-panel door with a flat hood, and there are three-light casement windows.
To the north, there is a parallel early 19th-century range that also has two stories and attics, topped with a gambrel roof. The symmetrical northern front has three windows, a floor band, pilasters, a casemented dormer, and a central door. The triple-sash windows have segmental arches, and there is a smaller window above the door. The entrance features a part-glazed flush-panelled door. Additionally, there is a large early 19th-century single-storey brewhouse linked to the northwest corner of the building.
