Description
Lawrence Cottage is a house built around 1894, originally serving as a master's house for Haileybury. It features red brick construction with rusticated stucco quions and a steep hipped roof made of Westmorland green slate. The building is a square pavilion with one and a half storeys, topped by a truncated pyramid slate roof and a large square glazed cupola or lantern, which has an ogee lead roof and a tall finial with a ball. The windows are small-paned casements, with the upper floor windows extending above the eaves beneath hipped slate roofs. On the west side, there is a small projection with a door located in the angle, sheltered by a moulded flat hood supported by a wrought iron brace. The cottage is complemented by tall red brick chimneys that have moulded caps. Lawrence Cottage is part of a group that includes No 4 and Haileybury College.
