Description

Southfield is a house built in 1895, originally serving as a master's house for Haileybury. It features red brick construction with a red tiled roof and is designed in an irregular L-shape, typical of the Queen Anne style. The house has two storeys and includes rounded gable parapets on the wing facing the road and on the stair tower at the angle of the main range.

A moulded brick floor band steps up twice over the door near the west corner, which is adorned with a moulded semi-circular hood and a moulded brick architrave surrounding a five-panel moulded door. The windows are boxed sash types, slightly recessed, with rubbed flat arches and keystones, each having four panes. There is a leaded stair window with mullions and transoms, and a bullseye window in the gable of the north wing. The first floor has a two-light sash window, while the ground floor features two narrow sash windows.

To the east, there are single-storey offices, and the garden front has both two-storey and one-storey bay windows. Southfield forms a group with No 2.
