GREAT AMWELL LONDON ROAD (east side) Hertford Heath Sundial on South Terrace at Haileybury and Imperial Service College

Sundial. Circa 1903 (Blunt (1966) 19) by Reginald Blomfield. Portland stone with circular inscribed bronze top plate and gnomon. On 2 circular steps a tall circular stone urn on a square base. 4 winged hearts carved around the belly. Bead-and- reel necking and acanthus carved circular cornice to moulded table. The urn about 1.5 metres tall. Plate inscribed 'E DONO ARTVRI G. BVTLER MAGISTRI 1862 - 1867'. Forms part of the group of the formal S front.
