Description
Gate Cottage is a house dating from the early to mid 17th century, with a 19th-century extension. It features a timber frame that has been rendered, with parts cased and extended in stock brick. The building has a steeply pitched tiled roof, with slate on the addition. It has a two-cell lobby entry and stands two storeys tall. The entrance is slightly to the left of centre, set within a 19th-century weatherboarded porch that has small pane casements and a slate roof with ridge tiles. The windows are flush frame small pane casements, with three lights on the ground floor under hood boards and two lights on the first floor. A multiform ridge stack is present, and the right end of the building is brick cased with a weatherboarded gable. There is a lean-to outshut on the left end, and to the rear left is a 19th-century wing featuring casements, a hipped roof, and a rear end stack. The interior has not been inspected. This building was formerly known as the Gate Inn Public House.
