Description

Drages Farm House is a house dating from the early to mid-17th century, with a mid-19th century extension. The original building features an exposed timber frame, some weatherboarding, and red brick facing, topped by a steeply pitched thatched roof. The later addition is either timber frame or brick, roughcast, with a slate roof. Initially, the house was a small single cell with a lean-to outshut, consisting of two storeys and an attic. The 19th-century addition, which has become the front of the house, is a two-bay lobby entry that is two storeys high.

On the ground floor, there are two small-pane flush frame casements with two lights, and above them, the exposed framing rests on a brick and flint base. The upper levels feature pentice boards with three and one-light small-pane casements, as well as bargeboards with a finial. The right return has close studding with a middle rail and one and two-light small-pane flush frame casements. At the rear, there is a brick, tile-coped rounded oven projection, and the gable end has casements, exposed framing, and an internal stack with rebuilt capping. The lean-to outshut from the original rear has a catslide roof, with an entrance on the short end featuring an open thatched porch and red brick on the return or original rear face.

To the front and set to the left is the 19th-century addition, which has a central entrance with a plank door and a bracketed hood, along with 20:20 pane iron glazing bar horizontal sliding sashes in flush moulded frames. The house has boxed eaves and a central ridge stack. The interior has not been inspected.
