Description
The Cabinet Public House is a public house that dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with extensions added in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame on a brick base and is weatherboarded, topped with a steeply pitched tiled roof. Originally consisting of two bays, it has been extended by one bay to the left, with further additions at both ends. The building is two storeys high.
On the ground floor, the entrance is located to the left of the original centre and consists of a recessed plank door framed by an architrave with a dentilled and bracketed hood. To the left of the entrance are two three-light small pane flush frame casements, and to the right is a two-pane window, all featuring hoodboards. The first floor has three two-light small pane casements and coved eaves. There is a cross axial ridge stack at the original left end, which has been partially rebuilt.
At the rear, there is a 19th-century continuous lean-to outshut behind the main range and the first added bay, which is weatherboarded and rendered. The upper part of the rear wall on the main block is rendered with some comb pargetting. A short 20th-century gabled addition is set back slightly at the left end, and there is a one-storey mid-20th-century addition to the right end that includes an entrance. To the right of this addition is a 19th-century weatherboarded outbuilding with a slate roof and two doors at the front.
Inside, there is a chamfered axial bearer and a stop-chamfered fireplace lintel.
