Description
Crabtree Cottage is an early 17th-century house, altered and extended in the 20th century. It is timber-framed, with rendered and weatherboarded external walls, and a steeply pitched thatched roof. The house originally comprised two rooms arranged in a lobby-entry plan. It is one storey high with an attic. The central entrance is flanked by 20th-century three-light casement windows, all with hoodboards. A small dormer window with eyebrow thatched detailing is located on the right side. A central ridge stack is present. The gable ends display exposed plates, and the attic has two-light casements. A lean-to outshut addition is situated at the left end, and a flat-roofed addition extends from the right end of the building. The interior reveals exposed timber framing with tension braces and cambered tie beams. Reused fireplace lintels are stop-chamfered. 20th-century additions to the rear of the property are not of particular architectural interest.
