Description

Tudor Cottage is a house dating from the late 16th century, with some minor additions and alterations. It features a timber frame with pargetted rendering and some weatherboarding, topped by a tiled roof. The building has three bays arranged in an L shape, with a stair wing at the rear and stands two storeys high.

To the right, a gable fronted bay projects forward and has an entrance to the left, which is a 20th-century weatherboarded gabled porch. The ground floor has weatherboarding with a flush frame and a two-light small pane casement window. The first floor is rendered and also features a similar casement. Exposed plates are visible in the steep gable.

To the left, there is a bay with two and three-light casements on the ground floor and a two-light casement on the first floor. A later low gabled outshut has been added to the left end, which was likely jettied originally. The original principal stack is located at the rear of the slightly lower ridge between the left and central bays. The right return has an 18th-century external stack with offsets.

Towards the rear, there is a glazed and weatherboarded entrance lean-to. The ground floor has weatherboarding, while the first floor is rendered with scattered small casements. At the rear, there is a gable to the left with a lean-to outshut extending to a lower gabled stair wing in the centre, which has lower weatherboarding and a two-light casement. A catslide roof covers the lean-to outshut to the right.

Inside, there is an ogee stopped chamfered axial binding beam adorned with low relief Tudor roses and a diamond lozenge, along with a stop chamfered cross axial binding beam and joists, and a newel stair.
