Description

Woodland is a house dating from the 17th century or earlier, renovated with lower extensions built in the 20th century. It is timber-framed with a stucco plinth, roughcast render, and a steep thatched roof, half-hipped at the east end. Hipped thatched roofs are present on the later end extensions. The house originally had a two-cell, single-storey and attic plan, facing north, with a central chimney. A break in the plinth marks the location of a central lobby entrance, originally beside the chimney and where the staircase is now situated. The original part of the house has two windows and two gabled dormers above. It has flush casement windows with three lights. A single-flue red brick chimney has been extended to the rear and recapped. The interior features exposed axial beams and joists, and an open fire with a timber lintol. An angled corner entrance is located at the northwest side, featuring a pointed doorway with a boarded door. Each extension has one casement window to the front.
