Description
Gosmore Farmhouse is a house built in the mid-17th century. It is constructed of red brick in an irregular bond and features a steep old red tile hipped roof. This large, symmetrical, two-storey square house has three windows on each side and a prominent central chimney. The building faces east and includes a projecting plinth, an ovolo-moulded band at the first floor, and a moulded brick cornice. The heavy framed three-light nearly flush casement windows have horizontal proportions and chamfered brick jambs. To the left of the front door, there is one window, and two on the south side of the ground floor have been altered to accommodate sash windows with six-over-six panes. The front door, which has been renewed, is a six-panel door set in a heavy frame, with a plastered surround and an oval window above. The large chimney features a diagonal square shaft surrounded by four tall octagonal shafts. The north side has blocked windows and buttresses. Inside, the farmhouse contains beams and crossbeams, wide fireplaces, four panelled doors on the ground floor, and four boarded doors with iron strap hinges on the first floor.
