Description

Dane End Forge is a forge building dating from the 18th century, with a 19th-century rear aisle. It features a timber frame that is dark weatherboarded and has a steep old red tile roof. The rear aisle is slated, and there is a hipped lean-to on the west side. This picturesque single-storey building faces south and has two small-paned large windows in the middle, a stable-type door on the right, a boarded door on the left, and a three-light casement window in the west end extension. There is a rear lateral red brick chimney serving the forge. A forge is mentioned in a Bill of Sale from around 1630.
