Description

This is an early 18th-century house with an adjoining chapel, now divided into three houses. The chapel was certified in 1804 for non-conformist use, owned by the Wesleyan Society in 1840, bought by the Rector in 1885 for use as a Mission Hall, and sold in 1952 for conversion. The structure has a timber frame on a tarred brick plinth, with stucco on the house section. The roadside range is dark weatherboarded to two storeys, with a steep roof covered in old red tiles, hipped at the western end. At the rear on the left is a single-storey and attic house, Dane Cottage, roughcast with a steep gambrel roof and a large dormer on each side. A lobby entry is located at the southern end, next to the chimney. The front range features a central chimney, situated approximately a third from the west end, with five windows to the first floor and four on the ground floor. These windows are 2-light and single cast iron small-paned casements. Small hoods shelter the doors at each end of the range. The building is considered a picturesque village feature.
