Description
Hangingwood Cottage is a 17th-century house located on the west side of Hanging Wood in Standon. It features a timber frame resting on a red brick sill and is weatherboarded, topped with a steep old red tile roof. The cottage has a two-room, lobby-entry plan and faces east. It is one and a half storeys high, with two gabled dormers at the eaves and two flush casement windows with small panes below. The central entrance is a boarded door set beneath a trellis porch. To the left, there is a hipped roof addition with one small window. At the northern end of the property, there is a tall cast iron pump with an expanded chamber and a sinuous counterweighted handle.
