GV II

House. Early C19. Red brick, diapered on rear W wall to road, with old red tile roof. 2-room, central stair plan with internal gable stack at S but only a small external chimney at NW probably added later. 2-storeys symmetrical 2-windows E front. Small 2- light gothic cast iron casements, the lower ones with segmental arches decorated with blue headers. Central boarded door up 2 steps under tiled lean-to open porch on posts. Single storey tiled brick extension on S and C20 single-storey tiled boarded extension at SE. Plain bargeboard, and a gothic cast iron casement window to each floor of N gable. The house creates a dramatic narrowing of the road by Hanging Cover Cottage (qv). Included for group value.
