Description

Little Barwick Farm is a house dating from the 17th century, which incorporates earlier work, with a late 17th-century extension to the west and a 19th-century rear wing. The main structure is timber-framed and plastered, while the west extension has exposed timber framing. It features steep old red tile roofs, half-hipped on the west extension, and an open porch at the west end. The L-shaped house faces north and is unusually wide, consisting of two storeys and an attic with a central chimney.

The former entrance into a lobby by the stack has been recently moved to the west end. There is a stair located behind the stack. The hall is situated to the east of the stack and has a larger fireplace and a door to the stair. The parlour is on the west side, with an unheated service room beyond it. An original fireplace can be found in the chamber above the hall. The north front features a painted brick plinth, with two windows on each floor of the main house, a small window replacing the former front door, and one window on each floor of the black and white lower west extension. The windows are two-light flush casements that have been renewed.

Inside, there is a moulded staircase with thick turned balusters, a flat four-centred brick arch leading to the first-floor fireplace, and a 19th-century fireplace in the attic. The west extension appears to have been constructed using reused timbers and likely served as a dairy with a bedroom above it.
