Description

This is a double barn located 25 meters north of the house at Castlebury, dating from the 18th century, with a roof that was altered in the 19th century. The barn has a timber frame that is weatherboarded on a red brick sill. The pitched roof is now covered with corrugated asbestos. It is a tall, unaisled double barn, with each section consisting of five bays and opposed double doors in the middle bay. The structure features unjowled posts with rails that are tennoned in line, and long curved braces supporting the tie beam. The roof has an angled Queen-strut design from the 19th century. This barn is included for its group value.
