Description
Bakers End Cottages is a block of four houses, now reduced to three, built in the mid-19th century. The cottages feature a timber frame that is weatherboarded on the front, which is painted white. They have a steep hipped slate roof with a slight eaves overhang and two pairs of shared central chimneys on each roof slope. The layout is double pile and single-fronted, with a matching weatherboarded rear extension on the eastern house. The cottages face south on a hillside above the ford. Each house has one front window on each floor and a door that is positioned away from the fireplace. The windows are two-light cast iron flush casements with small panes. The western half has half-glazed panelled doors, while the eastern half features an old plank door on the left (known as Sixpenny Cottage) and an old boarded door set forward in a gabled porch on the right. The cottages are part of a picturesque group alongside Hall House at the Ford, which adds to their group value.
