Description
Poplar Villa is a house dating from around 1700. It features red brick end walls, while the front and rear walls were originally timber-framed and are now plastered. The house has a steep old red tile roof that extends down over an original outshot at the rear. It is a symmetrical two-storey building with an attic, facing south, and has a two-room end chimneys plan with a winding stair that was formerly located in the southwest corner.
Notable architectural details include fine brickwork in the gable walls, which is laid in Flemish bond with random blue headers. The building has a chamfered plinth, raised bands at the first floor and eaves height, and a brick-on-edge cable parapet with corbelled kneelers. The chimney rises slightly to the rear of the apex, and there is a small square attic window. On the west side, there is a central small recess intended for a plaque. Inside, there is a chamfered axial beam with ogee stops. The front of the house has three windows and features a gabled porch.
