Description

The barn or byre located northeast of Pollys Farmhouse dates from the 17th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, with a gabled roof covered in corrugated asbestos. The building features a taller gabled midstrey on the south side and large doors at the center of the north side. It has shaped, jowled posts with arch braces connecting the tie beams to the collars of the principal rafters. The construction includes halved and bladed scarf joints and midstrey top plates that are through tenoned into the principal rafters. There is a lean-to extension on the south side.
