Description
Bush Farmhouse is a house from the late 16th century, featuring two storeys and a timber frame with plaster. It has an 'L' shaped plan with a gabled peg tile roof, which covers both the main block and a one-storey extension at the rear that includes attics. The structure is framed in two bays, with a narrow hearth bay and a cross-wing at the south end. There is a 17th-century stack with an inglenook fireplace located on the rear wall of the cross-wing. At the south end, there is a slate-roofed one-storey lean-to. The front of the house has an off-centre entrance door with a flat hood that dates to the early 19th century, along with a mix of 19th-century timber and 20th-century metal casements featuring horizontal panes. Inside, the ground floor north room showcases a complete diamond mullioned window, while the floor joists display soffit tenons and diminished haunches. The roof has side purlins with straight wind bracing. The site is also moated.
