Description

This is a barn dating from the late 17th century, located 40 metres northeast of The Woods in Hatfield Broad Oak. It is constructed with a timber frame and covered in black weatherboarding, topped with a gabled corrugated iron roof. The barn consists of four bays and features an off-centre gabled midstrey on the east side. Notable architectural details include jowled storey posts, some of which are reused, arch braces supporting the tie beams, and halved and bladed scarf joints. The roof structure is supported by side purlins on broad shaped 'V' struts.
