Description

TL 51 NW HATFIELD BROAD OAK FORREST ROAD (west side) 3/136 Nos 45 and 46 The Forrest II

Pair of houses, formerly one dwelling. c.1600 and late C18. Timber framed with brick front and roof of peg tiles with half hip and small gablets at each end of the ridge line. Of 2 storeys with 2 central ridge line stack adjoining, each with diagonal shafts. The front is of red brick with some blue brick headers and moulded eaves detail and plinth. The northern bay is a later rebuilding. A four window range of casements, those at No. 45 having cast iron gothick windows and those at No. 45 having plain C19 small pane casements. Central door with C19 gabled porch with decorative pendants. Internally the framing is partly exposed showing typical C.1600 framing with jowled corner posts and tie beams with former arch braces. Cast iron yard pump against front wall of No. 45.
