Description

The Forrest is a pair of houses that were originally one dwelling, dating from around 1600 and the late 18th century. The building is timber framed with a brick front and a roof covered in peg tiles, featuring half hips and small gablets at each end of the ridge line. It has two storeys and includes two central ridge line stacks, each with diagonal shafts. The front is made of red brick, with some blue brick headers, and has moulded eaves detail and a plinth. The northern bay has been rebuilt at a later date.

The houses have a four-window range of casements; No. 45 features cast iron gothick windows, while No. 46 has plain 19th-century small pane casements. There is a central door with a 19th-century gabled porch that includes decorative pendants. Inside, some of the framing is exposed, revealing typical 17th-century features such as jowled corner posts and tie beams with former arch braces. Additionally, there is a cast iron yard pump against the front wall of No. 45.
