Description
Barn Cottage at Barn Lodge Farm is a late 16th to early 17th century wheat and barley barn of high quality, with the south end converted into a cottage. It features a plain red tile half-hipped roof and a timber frame, with sections that are weatherboarded and plastered. The barn has a queen strut roof that was partly re-roofed in the early 18th century, a halved bladed top plate scarf, jowled posts, and arch braces supporting the tie beams. A corn partition with arch braces survives, along with two intact midstreys and three later hay doors. The cottage is two stories tall, with four casement windows and a red brick chimney stack at the ridge. The building retains its earlier structure throughout.
