Description
1 and 3 Borough Lane are a pair of houses built around 1840. They are constructed from gault brick and feature a hipped slate roof with central stacks at both the front and rear, as well as end wall stacks. Each house has two storeys and three bays. The design includes a plinth, a first-floor band of three courses, and a cornice band. The front façade has a narrow recessed panel at the party wall and a verandah supported by slim quatrefoil cast-iron columns, topped with a zinc canopy and valance. Each house has a central six-panelled door, with the door to No. 3 having the upper two panels glazed. The first floor features six-pane sash windows with cambered gauged brick arches, while the ground floor has casement windows with segmental gauged brick arches, painted stone sills, margin glazing, original opening panes, and louvred external shutters.
