Description
There are two headstones located approximately 3 metres southeast of the southeast corner of the South Porch of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. These headstones date from the 18th century. The smaller headstone features a curved and scrolled top with a central skull and cross-bones, and it is inscribed to Mary Carr, the wife of William Carr, along with three of their children, who passed away in 1732 at the age of 29. The taller headstone has a more elaborate curved top adorned with foliate scrolls, a central sun, crossed trumpets, and cherub heads. It is inscribed to William Carr, who died in 1775 at the age of 74.
