Description
This is a group of two headstones located approximately 4 meters southeast of the chancel of the Church of St. Mary. They date from around 1694 and 1700 and are made of marlstone in the Baroque style. The earlier headstone, on the right, features an arched scrolled top adorned with a pair of winged cherub's heads that support swags and festoons. The inscription, which is flanked by female weepers, is mostly illegible but includes the date 1694. The second headstone is slightly larger and displays an oval cartouche surrounded by cherubs and drapery, with a smaller cartouche at the top; its inscription is also illegible. The carving on the earlier stone is particularly vigorous and accomplished.
