Description

College Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with extensions from the 19th century and alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone and marlstone rubble, featuring wooden lintels and some ashlar dressings, topped with a concrete plain-tile roof and brick stacks. The building has a three-unit through-passage plan with a rear service wing and stands two storeys high.

The front facade has a regular arrangement of four windows, which includes three-light casements, except for the third bay where there is a two-light window above the entrance. The upper windows maintain their wooden lintels and 18th to early 19th century iron casements, while the lower windows have been replaced with newer casements that have concrete lintels. The roof features gable stacks and a ridge stack located to the right of the center. The right gable wall is notable for its large ashlar quoins and leads to a short rear wing that continues as a lower service range. The rear of the building includes a 19th century stair wing situated at the angle of the ranges, and the lower range retains a small two-light wood-mullioned window.

Inside, there is a large inglenook fireplace that backs onto the through passage, along with some chamfered beams.
