Description

Forge House and an attached farmbuilding range, likely dating from the 17th century, was altered in the 18th century. The house is constructed of coursed marlstone rubble with wooden lintels, and has a thatched roof with brick and rendered stacks. It follows an L-shaped plan. The two-storey front has an irregular arrangement of four windows. Small canted bay windows are positioned in the first and second bays, flanking a segmental-arched window which was originally a doorway. The first floor has a two-light casement window and a 12-pane sash window with heavy glazing bars. The right-hand bay features a six-panel door and a two-light casement window. Two two-light casement windows are located on the first floor. The roof has stacks in both gables and to the right of centre. A lower service bay is attached to the left-hand gable wall. The right-hand gable wall has a small casement window and returns to a short rear wing, which is probably a later addition. A thatched stone farmbuilding range adjoins the rear of the house. The interior has not been inspected.
