Description
No. 50 Freehold Street is a small house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with some 20th-century alterations. It is built of coursed squared marlstone with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh-slate roof with brick gable stacks. The house has a two-unit plan and has been extended to the rear and side.
The front facade, which is two storeys high, has a regular two-window arrangement typical of the 18th century. It includes a plinth and an ashlar storey band, with renewed two-light casements. The first-floor windows have stop-chamfered lintels, while the ground-floor windows are topped with ashlar flat arches and projecting keyblocks that connect to the band. The interior has not been inspected. The 20th-century extensions to the left and rear are not considered to have special architectural interest. The building is included for its group value.
