Description
A group of four headstones from the 18th century is located between 18 and 22 metres southeast of the south porch of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin. Each headstone features curved and angled tops, adorned with carvings of cherub heads, skull and crossbones, or angels with trumpets. The inscriptions include: (1) Catherine Hewson, wife of Robert Hewson, dated June 1776; (2) Mary Nash, dated 1760; (3) John Greenway, dated 1736; and (4) a headstone carved with a skull and crossbones, which is lichen-covered and has an unreadable name and date.
