Description
Two cottages, numbers 26 and 28 East Street, were built in the 18th and 19th centuries and have undergone later alterations. Number 28 is on the left and is constructed of painted brick with a red pantile roof. Number 26 is to the right and is faced with red brick, with weatherboarding to the right return. It has a half-hipped and gambrelled red plain tiled roof with a central red brick chimney stack. Number 26 also has a storey and attic space with two catslide dormers and 2-light casement windows with centre transoms.
The window arrangement is two windows wide by two windows high, featuring small-paned vertically sliding sashes with gauged segmental heads. A 20th-century shop front and door are located to the left of number 26. Each cottage has vertically boarded doors with segmental heads and gauged brick arches.
A stable block with loft doors to the first floor and garage doors to the ground floor is located to the rear of number 26. The cottages were historically service cottages for number 24.
