Description
This is a byre with a loft over, located approximately 30 metres northwest of Caidge Farmhouse. It dates from the 18th century and is currently used as a piggery. The structure is timber framed and weatherboarded, topped with a red plain tiled roof that has an outshot to the north. There is a 20th-century lean-to attached to part of the south wall. The east gable features a central vertically boarded door, with fixed windows on either side that still contain their original glass. Above the ground floor door, there is a loft door. The roof has queen struts and staggered side purlins, and it is pegged at the ridge. The frame is also pegged, with hanging knees supporting the loft floor ties, and the top plate has halved and bladed scarfs.
