Description

This is an 18th-century byre located approximately 70 metres west-south-west of Great Biggins Farmhouse. It is constructed with a timber frame, which is plastered and weatherboarded, and has a roof made of corrugated asbestos. The building consists of four bays arranged from east to west, with a lean-to shed at the western end. It features a gambrel roof that is half-hipped at both ends. The structure includes primary straight bracing, face-halved and bladed scarfs in the wall plates, and bolted hanging knees to the tiebeams. The roof is designed with clasped purlins. This byre is listed for its group value as part of a complete farm complex.
