Description
The Old Smithy is a house that dates back to the 17th century and was extended in the 19th century. It features a timber frame with plastering and a thatched roof. The original structure consists of three bays facing east, with an axial stack located in the middle bay. To the right, there is a 19th-century extension that adds two more bays and includes a central stack. A single-storey lean-to extension with a corrugated asbestos roof is also present on the right side. The building has one storey with attics and contains four 19th-century or early 20th-century casement windows, along with two additional casements located in eyebrow dormers. The front entrance features a 20th-century gabled porch. Inside, the original section has a large wood-burning hearth that faces to the left, with a mantel beam that is chamfered and has lamb's tongue stops. The axial beams are also chamfered with lamb's tongue stops, and the interior includes exposed plain joists, jowled posts, face-halved and bladed scarfs, and a clasped purlin roof.
