Description
This barn, located approximately 85 metres south-west of Great Biggins Farmhouse, dates from the 18th century. It is timber framed, covered with plaster and weatherboarding, and has a roof made of corrugated asbestos. The barn consists of five bays aligned north to south, featuring an original midstrey on the west side. The north end and the midstrey have a half-hipped design. The main doorway on the west side is boarded over. Inside, there is primary straight bracing and bolted hanging knees attached to the tiebeams. The structure includes collars and principals at half-bay intervals, and a joggled butt-purlin roof. It is reported that an inscription indicates the barn was moved from another site in the 18th or 19th century, although this inscription was not found during the survey in August 1984. The barn is listed for its group value as part of a complete farm complex.
