Description

This barn, located approximately 25 metres north of Grange Farmhouse, dates from the 18th century and includes some older sections. It is timber framed and covered with weatherboarding, sitting on a brick plinth, and features a grey slate roof. The barn has a central midstrey outshot on both the left and right sides and consists of seven bays. The roof is boarded and constructed with side purlins and a ridgeboard. Most walls have through bracing, while two bays feature pegged arched bracing and bridled scarfs. There are some hanging knees and straight braces supporting the tie beams, and the storey posts are jowled. The barn includes a two-bay midstrey and is part of a larger farm complex.
