Description

The Bays is a house located on Kings Road in Southminster, dating from the 17th century or earlier, with alterations and additions from the 18th century and later. It features a timber frame with painted brick facing and a central band, topped by a red plain tiled roof. The house has two storeys and is designed with a three-window range of small paned vertically sliding sashes, which have segmental heads on the ground floor. The central entrance consists of a two-panel, two-light door with reveal panels, bases, and capitals to pilasters, a frieze, and a moulded flat canopy. There is a 19th-century trellised iron porch with an ogee arch, ridge, and finial. The property also includes two rear wings, with the north wing originating from the 17th century.
