Description

This is a late 17th-century cottage located on Vicarage Lane in Tillingham. It is built with a timber frame, with some sections plastered and others covered in weatherboarding. The roof is thatched and features two gabled dormers at the rear. A red brick chimney stack is present. The front elevation has a two-light casement window with a pentice board above it. A vertically boarded door is set beneath a pentice board, and there is a weatherboarded return to the left of the entrance. The original timber frame remains intact and contains a side purlin roof, pegged at the ridge, with through bracing to the walls. Notable interior features include stop-chamfered bridging joists and a central back-to-back fireplace. A single-story kitchen extension was added in the 19th or 20th century to the rear right side.
